SkillsUSA: Tacoma, WA – Welding Competition, April 1, 2022

Congratulations to ALL the students who participated in the SkillsUSA welding competition hosted by Bates Technical College in Tacoma, April 1, 2022. Students get a head start and they can teach the neighbor a thing or two. Many will become the experts at new ways in the future.

The SkillsUSA competition was attended by 13 students, representing various schools around the State of Washington.

Geoffrey Simpson, Sales Representative from our Central Welding Supply location in Tacoma was the point person for sponsorship support. Sales teams from both the Tacoma and Chehalis locations, have been long-time sponsors of SkillsUSA in the southern area of Puget Sound. In addition to advance preparations, Geoffrey offered on-site support, and rounded up donations from our sales teams in Chehalis and Tacoma.

Scott Mann, Outside Sales from our Everett location, takes care of the Sno-Isle Vocational Skill Center group. Bob Throndsen, welding instructor at Sno-Isle Tech Skills Center offered support to the participants on-site.

Thanks to Eric Johnson, Instructor at Bates Technical College who announced the winners and presented the prizes. Every competitor was able to receive a prize, thanks to the collaboration between Central Welding Supply and our kind vendors!

Geoffrey reached out to Mike Buell, VP from Central Welding Supply headquarters, as well as to our major vendors. Miller, Lincoln Electric, ESAB and 3M pitched in with their own prizes. Central Welding Supply donated gift bags with an assortment of welding accessories, plus a $25 gift card. Our major vendors donated a variety of welding helmets, branded welding apparel, and personal safety equipment.
